Again, I have never had a flu shot and have never had the flu but I just moved to NYC and am thinking with all the wind and all the people coughing around me in the subway..it may be a good idea. Am I right to think my chances of getting the flu are higher because of all the people around me that I wasn't used to previously?

I have previously passed on the flu shot because when I have gotten the flu (1 or 2 times) it was mostly cleared up 2 or 3 days later and didn't seem like a huge deal.

However, I recently moved to DC where I'm now in contact with a lot more people than before, so I figured my odds of getting it were higher, and I started a job where I can't just take off time, so I got the flu shot.

So to answer you question, I used the same thinking that you mention. I don't think that there is any harm in getting it.

I've heard that a lot of people have been getting sicker than usual from the flu shot. I'd recommend that you just wash your hands often, maybe carry around some Purell (or another alcohol sanitizer) and use it before you eat and try not to touch your mouth, eyes or nose with dirty hands.

Some think the shots have dangerous things in them and are worse than the flu, draw your own conclusions, I am not getting any.

hi! I surely have a large concern of needles too, so i could have the flexibility to grant you some information from an in depth attitude. unlikely to a doctor in view which you have been 5 isn't any such competent theory. many times, you could desire to no longer flow to college without vaccinations. yet, i in my view do no longer think of that they might supply you extra effective than 5 in case you rather mandatory vaccines. you additionally can ask them in the event that they are in a position to mixture vaccines in case you could desire to get some. there is likewise a flu mist- which i had- and it rather isn't any longer undesirable in any respect:) sit down inclusive of your mothers and fathers and purely clarify which you think of you prefer a flu shot, and ask their permission. i'm hoping this helps!!

Not simply because you are now in NYC...it just plain makes sense. I've been "flu-free" for 5 years now and so have EVERY one of my co-workers (that's 225 people!)!
