Magnavox Big Screen?

so i got this huge guy. hes pretty old. well, hes got this purple line goin through the middle of him whenever i turn it on goin side to side. i got a degaussing coil but that didnt do a thing. does anyone know whats wrong with him? anyone know roughly how much that will cause me to fix, or how to fix myself? mucho thanks a lot.

Not a magnetic problem so degaussing wouldn't do any good. You probably have a filter that needs to be replaced in "tint". The good news is a competent TV repairman can fix it easily, if not cheaply.
