1) Clean really well. Use a Magic Eraser to get rid of any marks on the walls/doors/etc. Eliminate any clutter (you'd be amazed at how much different the room will look).

2) Look in the linen closet for different sheets and other bedding you can use - or get new bed linens. Don't forget to add a casual throw and some toss pillows.

3) "Borrow" artwork from other rooms or get it out of storage (check attics, basements, garage, etc) and put it up.

4) Change the lighting. Try using pink lightbulbs instead of regular white ones - they make the room feel warmer and happier.

5) Open the curtains/window blinds and let plenty of natural light into the room.

6) Bring in an area or throw rug.

7) Add a nice potted plant or two. Maybe even a hanging plant, near a window?

8) Mosquito netting hung around the bed makes it look really different...

9) Find a way to showcase a collection, like a group of alike things on a shelf - either alike in what they are, or by color, or texture, etc. A cool idea - a number of bowls in the same color, like white, filled with things from a particular genre, like nature - one with pinecones, one with sweetgum balls, one with twigs

drape some nice scarves over the lamps, change your sheets, throw a new blanket over the end of the bed, place your mattress on the floor instead of on the bed itself, hang your curtains differntly, depersonalize the space, bring in some plants, put any collections on display... the list is endless... But just for the heck of it: if you're a clean freak, just don't clean it and it'll look different than it usually does... :)

Move photos around, spread a nice towel on top of dresser & chest-of-draws and rearange things on top of them. Try tieing your drapes or curtenes back with some ribbon or lace.
