In my opinion, it is never too early to get a child associated with the potty! After all, they will be using it the rest of their life. When your toddler is old enough, I recommend taking him/her to the store so they can pick out their own personal potty. If they like the new potty they've chosen, then the chance that they'll use it will be much greater!
If you're child cannot walk yet, then maybe reconsider waiting awhile before letting them go solo on the new device!

Most toddlers become potty trained after the age of 2 and before the age of 3. Be patient, they will learn in time. They're too young to be trained at the age of 1. The more you force them, the less likely they'll get potty trained any sooner.

I started potty training my daughter at 18 months. She is now 2 and potty trained. She goe's to the bathroom now with out telling me and doe's not have alot of accidents. It all depends on what you want to do and if you think she is ready. I would recommend you start talking to her now about going potty, ask her did you pee-pee? Take her into the bathroom with you, show her what you are doing. ( My mother told me to do that) I know it may sound gross, but it works. Also let her be around kids that are potty trained.

If she's not ready to potty train then it's too early. My daugher was about 18 months but that was only because she was my shadow everytime I went to the bathroom. Finally one day she said "me do" meaning she wanted to sit on the toilet like I did. Everytime we went to the bathroom she would have to sit on the toilet like I did. She had no idea WHY she was up there other than she had seen me sit there so she wanted to. Finally one day the timing was right. Once she got the idea that that was what that "chair" was for she started going. But that doesn't mean EVERY kid trains like that or WANTS to. If the child shows an interest in the toilet fine if not don't push

I raised 4 kids and by the time they were 2, they were potty-trained. Things today are so different, though. In my day, they had pottys that had a tray on; where they could sit and play til they went. Now, they don't have that, so in my opinion, it makes it alot harder. You have to stay with them, IF they go or not. I'm raising my grandchild, and I think it's so much harder. Sooo, in my opinion, it takes alot more patience, but getting them in the habit of sitting there can't do them no harm; a little at a time.

I would say you can go buy the potty chair and have it set up in the bathroom and when you go ask her if she would like to join you, but I wouldn't start potty training because she may not be physically ready. her sphincter muscles and bladder control have to be established before she can hold it long enough to make it to the potty. But introducing her to the potty isn't a bad idea.

I was potty trained at 13 months. My mom started training me right when I turned 12 months. It is VERY possible to potty train a child as soon as he/she starts walking. Granted, it's easier if they are older because they understand more BUT that shouldn't stop you. Children are very smart - smarter than we give them credit for.
It's all up to you - with your persistance she'll get it. Even if she doesn't talk yet or doesn't talk very good, you can show her signs to do to tell you she has to go potty.
Good luck to ya!

I think it is to soon to potty train a 1 year old. Most ped doctos will tell you to wait until about 27 months old, just because toddlers reflexes don't develop until then. Wait a little while

A 1 year old doesn't have the ability to control their bowels yet, that comes in the 2nd year. You can get her used to sitting on the potty though, just for fun.
