It seems to me both actions force individuals to adhere to some evangelistic Christian standard, regardless of their personal beliefs.

What do you guys think?

Actually they are linked in a rather ironic way.

Every Christmas, the most powerful organizations in the Religious Right direct their time, money, attention and energy to getting the senior citizen paid below minimum wage at Walmart to say "Merry Christmas" instead of "Happy Holiday." (It does mean HOLY-day, but that seems to escape them)

Which leaves them less time, money, attention and energy to pursuing their regular agenda.

So have a Merry Christmas! :-)

As a stem cell recipient I just first want to say not ALL stem cell research is immoral, stemcells can be used from living donors and from umbillical cords which get thrown in the garbage anyway with no harm dont to the baby. What IS immoral is sucking the stemcells out of an unborn baby causing them to die.

The not wishing Merry Christmas thing is just rediculous... how many people do you really think do the lights, gifts, trees, and holly and NOT call it Christmas?? And if you dont celebrate Christmas, you certainly arent spending your money on such things or massive gifts for the family this time of year. The retail industry would come close to collapse without Christmas so the ACLU should just suck it up and find a worthy cause.

No. In spite of propaganda, they are not linked.

There are no laws against stem-cell research in the US.. There are currently laws restricting how much money can be raided from the US Treasury to conduct stem cell research using killed, viable, human embryos.

I cannot find in the US Constitution where it is the job of the Government to subsidize the R & D of private corporations.

We Goldwater conservatives wish you the best of the Holiday Season, whichever way you wish to celebrate it; and if you are Christian, we wish you a very Merry Christmas with your loved ones.

I don't think it should be made in to such a big deal, just don't tell me i can't say it. If some politically correct person wishes me a happy holiday i smile and say merry Christmas to them if, someone says happy Kwanzaa to me i say merry Christmas to them always with a smile, and more often then not it is excepted in the spirit it was meant a warm greeting from a friendly face, and if not they have the issue not me.but i don't see the link from holiday greetings to stem cell research. stem cell research is not just a christian standard, more people against it and abortion for a moral reason but not always a righteous one.

Stem-cell research is immoral. Saying "Happy Hannukah," "Happy Kwanzaa," "Merry Christmas," "Happy Ramadan" is also immoral. The battles are completely separate, but are being fought by some of the same groups.
I personally would rather be told "Merry Christmas" than "Happy Holidays" because by saying "Happy Holidays" a corporation is giving up their own values in order to placate false religions. Christmas is a false holiday itself, but at least those who observe it often do so in order to give praise to the Savior. The other winter holidays give praise to things/ideas that shouldn't be praised.
Stem-cell research is wrong on a completely different level. They're two separate issues.

There are no efforts to ban "stem cell research". It is the use of "embryonic stem cells" that we wish to avoid. Harvest stem cells from adults! Do some research and you will find that stem cells from adults sources are showing much better results than those from embryos. There has not been a single medical success from killing embryos.

They are losing the "moral" high ground after the RELIGIOUS events of 9/11, never mind the gay priests, anti-condom, pedophile scandals.

I support the end of year celebrations above The "son of god" dying for my "immortal soul" any day!

One is real and tagible, the other a sect of pedophilic old men!

It's moronic. When will people accept that not everyone in this country is a "Christian".
