cyst in the ear or behind it

apply warm moist compresses to the inflamed sore site- changing the cloth as it cools
take 2 Aspirins (by mouth) as needed every 6 hours
after applying the warm compresses at least intermittenly 24 hours-
if it has not spontaneously ruptured..
insert a sterilized ( with alcohol) needle into the skin/ cyst to drain it

repeat all steps if needed

FYI - I battled cysts under my chin for a number of years. this is something that needs to be addressed by a doctor, particularly because it involves your ear area.

These are skin cysts that form from blocked oil glands in the skin. They are commonly found on the labia majora of the vulva, back, and trunk, but can also be found on other parts of the body. The cysts generally have a round appearance. A black, dark portion of the cyst is visible on the skin. If squeezed, the cysts exude a stringy, cheesy white material. If the cysts become infected, they will become red and tender. Sebaceous Cysts are primarily a cosmetic problem or a nuisance if they form in body regions that are easily irritated, such as the armpit. These cysts are benign and do not develop into cancer.

The total sac of the Sebaceous Cyst must be removed. If the cheesy material is just squeezed out, the cyst will reform. The removal of the cyst is usually performed by a physician. Sometimes a small incision is required. In the case of infected cysts, antibiotics may be prescribed.

Good hygiene may prevent the formation of Sebaceous Cysts. Daily showers or baths with antibacterial soap are recommended. It is important to wash the back. Some individuals are predisposed to development of these cysts, so even careful hygiene does not prevent them.

Is it painful? Then go to the doctor, even though you don't have insurance. You don't to risk a greater infection.

For now, keep applying warm compresses to your ear where the cyst is located to bring it to a head. What you're trying to do is get the pus to rise to the top, so then you can try to control the infection. Get a warm towel and just hold it to your ear for at least ten minutes as much as you can every day.

Also, wash your cyst every single day. This is extremely important. The last thing you want to do is make it even bigger, right? This includes not picking at it with your fingers, and only treating it with clean hands. It's going to take a while, but it'll go away.

You should NOT treat it yourself. If you do- you run a very high risk of infection, & then you'll end up in a hospital anyway. If it's bothering you that much- go to either your closest Emergency Room- or Urgent Care facility, & let them look at it. DON'T WAIT!!! This is a condition that will only get worse. Good luck.

honestly, it's best you let the pro handle it. Cysts can become infected very easily if not handled correctly, so if you do it yourself, and it gets infected then you will have to go to the doctor to get an anti biotic.

good luck
