You probably won't hear an audible voice, as cool as that would be. But you and and your wife should be praying together, and you can also pray with your pastor or church friends. It is good that you trust in God, remember to always do so. If something difficult comes up, then go into a room or someplace by yourself, and simply give it up to God.

Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)
6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

As Christians, we should trust God through the good times as well as the bad, even though it might seem hard. Congrats on your baby! I hope that this helps, I will pray for you and yours, and God bless!

Psalm 70:5
Yet I am poor and needy;
come quickly to me, O God.
You are my help and my deliverer;
O LORD, do not delay.

Psalm 102:1
Hear my prayer, O LORD;
let my cry for help come to you.

Might I also suggest praying through some Psalms. It's not about your prayer getting to heaven any faster as much as it is about simply pouring your heart out before God. The Psalms are full of that. Flip through some.

Note: Horsense seems to be a Jehovah's Witness, FYI. Careful.

My first question to you is, Do you know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior? If not the only prayer HE will hear is you asking Him to be your Lord and Savior. Then you can ask for His help in these other areas, and HE will hear.
Second Question, Are you trusting that God will answer your prayers, and meet all your needs, or are you praying and then doubting that God will help?
You must have no doubt that God answers all your prayers in accordance with His perfect will. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
Our prayers cannot get to Heaven any faster, because the second you pray it is already there.

To hear Gods voice you must be 100% sold out to Him. You cannot just go to God and give Him a list of things you want, prayer is a two way street. God is talking to us all the time, the problem is ours in that we do not sit still and listen for His still small voice.

You say your falling apart. I know this sounds easier to say then to do, but you have to give all your troubles over to God and they become as tiny little specks in His hands. The Bible says that we are to give Him our yoke and He will give us His. And His yoke is lite as ours is heavy.

This is a tough one. There are three general things you can look for in God's communiation with you. It must not conflict with biblical teaching. It will generally seem to fit your life circumstances, and you will often feel like God is leading you in a certain way. For instance, if you feel like you should switch jobs, and the job you take doesn't make you do bad things, and you are qualified for the new job and it helps you out of a bad financial situation, God could very well be leading you to take that job. If there seems to be a "yes" in each of the three questions... "Is it Biblically sound? Do I feel lead to do this? Does it make sense with the situations in my life?" Then most likely you can be sure that God is leading you in this direction. This is not a 100% thing so remember to keep praying!

He has already heard and He sees your need. I pray in Jesus name that God comfort you, that He bless you and your wife with a healthy baby, and that you can trust Him to provide for all your needs. May the Lord give you peace and comfort this evening.

Ask Jesus to reveal Himself to you, who he is. He says "Come unto me all that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest". I think a verse that really applies to you is in James - in the book of James it says that if anyone is without wisdom, to ask God for it and he will give it without chastisement. And when you are asking for it, it also says to believe you will receive it and not doubt. That is not to say that you just ask God for anything and He will give it, but that He does care for his children and will give them what they need.

You can become his child if you are not already. You need to repent of your sins (be sincerely sorry towards God for having broken his commandments and offending Him, and want to not do the sin again), understand that Jesus is the way, the door to Heaven, and ask him to be your savior and Lord. The Bible says that whoever comes to him he will not in any way cast out. After this, you are now his child, and can talk to him as you would a real human father. Of course, this father is holy, totally righteous, totally just, totally wise, all knowing, all powerful.

You need also to find a church where the Bible is taught and there is an active community of believers there that love each other and worship God. You also need to learn to read and study the Bible after this. oneplace.com has many resources. Listen to Adrian Rogers, Alistair Begg, some of John Piper and R. C. Sproul (both can be very advanced), for their descriptions of salvation and other things - they can state important things very simply for anyone to understand.

There is no formula, no magic button to get God to do something for you, but if you are his child, you can call on Him and the Bible promises he will answer. He knows the activities of the sparrows even. If He cares for little birds, how much more will he care for his children, who are obviously worth much more!

I agree with "So you say", and that the advice of the Horsense is Jehovah's Witness, who have their own spin on the Bible that does not agree in important areas with many mainstream Christian teachings.

No need to get all emotional or hyper spiritual. How we hear God is through his word (bible). This is how he has revealed Himself. 1Corinthians 1:20 says "all of God's promises are yes and amen in Him" this give you a fishing liscens to stand on any of the promises in His book. Jesus says ask anything in His name and it shall be done! Phillippians 4:13 says "I can do all things through Christ who stregthens me." But if you really want to get God to enter in financially start tithing and stand in Malachi 3:10-11. Faith is the only thing that pleases God if you want to get God involved act on His Word!

Matthew 6:8-13. "Pray then like this, Our Father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven..." Adding here what it is you need, Then add "in Jesus name", for Jesus teaches us that when we ask God in his Name, it will be done.
