having been a cashier myself, I was not chatty and always tried to be fast and get the line moving. I don't like chatty cashiers either, when I am ready to check out that means I am ready to leave the store not stand around and chat. Plus it holds up the line for other people. I think you could have stated to her that you were in a hurry without the childish hand clapping and comments which were rude, yes

Uhh..yes. it was extremely rude. Just because some one is in a service position doesn't give you the right to disrespect them. Thats if you really did this. In any case, you better check your food the next time you order from a restaurant. A disgruntled and abused worker might have put something in it.

Yes, I think that was very rude. She is not doing you a favour, she is getting paid for her job. I think it's very sweet when cashiers strike up conversations with me. The other day, I went to a gift store to buy my friend a gift for her wedding and the lady helping me was asking me when the wedding was and all. I don't think what you did was very nice.

Yes. Cashiers are told by their employers to make idle conversation while ringing up the customer. If you had done that to me when I worked in retail, I would have felt insulted. The cashier was just doing her job.

Extremely rude, but it's your right to be rude. Just don't expect good service from establishements in future if you treat all cashiers that way. You may find - lane closed - signs popping up in front of you.

Yes, very much so.
People like you make other people have little faith in humanity.
But the fact that you are asking this question makes it evident that you have doubt that what you did was charitable to her, and shows that you are taking the first step of repentance, which is acknowledging the problem.

Someday, I hope you have to work in a job where you have to deal with people all day long. What you said and did was unforgivably rude and obnoxious. It will come back to you one of these days. Shame on you.
