I've got a bet riding on your answers so give me your honest thoughts.

The German uniforms were far more magnificent.

Everything about a Geman uniform was meant to be put on display...a show of power and character. The officers hats were amazing. with their high peak and a crest with the swastika. Below that on the black trim would be a skull (if you were a member of the SS).

The coats were also very nice. The SS uniforms are very highly collectible. They were completely black with Silver trimming. The rubicon SS symbol was instantly recognizable everywhere it was and is taken. The Iron Cross (Eisernes Kreuz) is a beautiful medal going back to 1814 when it was first used to establish a link to the Teutonic Knights of Medieval Germany with the new Germanic armies.

The pants, though plain were always very elegant. The knee-high boots were always brilliantly polished and just make a beautiful resonant sound when going across wooden floors.

The field uniforms were also nice. The peaked caps were instantly recognizable as well as no other field armies had them. The buttons on the overcoats were round, gray, and covered with small indentions.

These uniforms were called field greys. they were black and white trimmed (the uniforms one would most easily recognize from the WWII period though they actually predated WWI).

The Schutzstaffeln (SS) did employ the earliest camouflage pattern as we would consider camouflage today. It was a bunch of circular splotches with colors of light brown, light green, dark green, and a subdued yellow color. One example you can see if you fly to Normandy, France and visit the Museums there behind Omaha Beach.

Though I am always for the US...I can say without reservation that the German army made and still has one of the most elegant military uniforms in the world. I can attest to that because I lived in Germany for four years.

Oh, the swastika goes back to the earliest Christian churches. That's right folks...the Swastika is nothing but a crucifix (a cross for you people who dont speak Latin) going back around 2000 years. And this cross was borrowed *gasp* from a religion of pagans that populated southeastern Europe at the time.

The Germans had some spiffy uniforms, but begrudgingly I bestow the best uniform to the Navy Whites, and in second the Marines dress blues. This is coming from an army guy.

The Germans did have the best looking uniforms. They needed to for propaganda purposes.

The USA . US Navy, US Marine Corp, US Seals, US Army.
Not only are the Uniforms better looking, but also the men who wear them are better, looking. Go with the Winners.

Actually the Germans did. They had their crazy Swastika symbol and SS symbols and even today such medals and uniforms are highly collected by people. As far as the Swastika symbol goes, Hitler did not invent this. It originated from a group of Indians in the early 1900's, it was a symbol of good luck. A fact not many people realize.
Another fact: e-Bay will NOT allow the selling of any Nazi germany items that bare such symbols.
