Is it Paxil or Zoloft? Or is it something completely different?

Which made you feel the best?

They are both anti-depressants geared for different reasons. Paxil is more for social anxiety; people who consider THEMSELVES to be socially awkward are generally given paxil. Zoloft is more the general anti-depressant, with less specialized reasons for taking it. It is a hot topic right now.

Before you do anything, get help! Psychiatrist can do wonders. Please, do this before you hurt yourself, please keep keep in mind that there are people out there who care about you and love you.

Good luck

Your question is phrased oddly. I think you are trying to ask, which one will work best to bring you out of your depression, but the ambiguous reference, makes it seem like you are asking which one is best to take to complete the final act.

First of all, if you are at all near suicide, get yourself to a psych hospital NOW. Do Not Pass Go. Do NOT collect any monopoly money. It may seem now like its completely worthless, but as one who has tried and failed (thank God) I can tell you that I would have missed some of the best years of my life (better than I ever had before!).

As for the anti-depression question, there is no easy answer and don't believe anyone who tells you there is. Your brain chemistry is unique, and there can be different defficient chemicals such as norepinephrine, serotonin (as you mentioned) or dopamine.

Each of the antidepressants act a little different on your neurological channels, so you will have to work with your psychiatrist (and please, don't --unless you can't afford a psych --use a family doctor for this, they aren't as well-versed) to find the antidepressant that works best for your brain. It will be a longer process. It does not happen in an instance, but I can guarantee you that it is well worth your time.

For me, it took about three years to find the right combo (basically because I had undiagnosed ADD to go along with the depression). usually though, it should only take a few months at most...if that!

I think it's interesting that you would refer to an anti-depressant as an SSRI (selective seratonin reuptake inhibitor). It sounds to me as if you've been doing your homework and just want to make sure you ask your doctor for the "best" mood elevator. I don't think you're suicidal at all. I think you just want some "feel good" meds. Ask for Prozac, then maybe you WILL know how it feels to be suicidal. Personally I think you're a phony.

S.S.R.I.'s make lousy suicide drugs. There are other drug families that are much more efficient and sure. Have you considered talking things over with a person that has experience in the subject? He/she may give you a wider perspective on life and your part in it. Depression leads to a very narrow isolated and skewed World-view. I know it. I've been there. I think I know some of your pain, hoplessness, and sadness. Do me a favor, and talk to an empathetic ear. Some people do care and may be able to make your life more bearable.
Do it for yourself, and if you just can't, please do it for me. You'll be doing me a big favor. No one else does.
Dan.

Well when I tried I was put on Zoloft by the shrink. It helped alot. But if you go off them the same feelings come back at least for me they did.

It is cruel to even think of the last part of you question. Whenever you feel depressed, calm down, meditate and get back to relaxation. Keep meditating every day whenever you get time but definitely before going to bed.
You will feel totally refreshed without causing any medical side-effects to your body and mind!

If you're feeling that way, then taking these meds will possibly to begin with make you feel more like you want to kill yourself. See someone

You need to see a doctor.. a psychiatrist immediately. You can't get those medicines without a prescription and you need to see a doctor to get them. You better se one as soon as possible if you're thinking of killing yourself. In the meantime, call 1-800-SUICIDE. They can help you.
