Well, if a guy you like suddenly becomes available, of course that girl is going to jump on the opportunity! If you've ever read "He's just not that into you", which is basically the modern girl's bible to dating, it says that a guy saying "Oh, I just got out of a relationship" is a horrible lie and it just means he's not that into you if he says that. Yes, it could be untrue, but that's a little bit like how girls think, and that book was written mainly so girls would stop making up excuses for why guys were treating them the way that they do. Girls really want to be liked, and they also are made pretty happy by relationships. They think they're going to cheer up you (and themselves!). Girls love to claim their men before someone else snatches them up.

Are you talking about Paris Hilton? I think some girls do this because they want to forget the pain they went through or forget the person. Also so they don't look bad in their minds for being alone. Some girls can't stand being alone. Insincere people.

It is called "rebounding" and it is not a good idea to form a relationship with a re bounder. Hollywood is full of re bounders i.e. this one left this one and went with this one etc. ! Catch my drift ? Steer clear of this scene with your ex and her friend. "Loose lips sink ships" and you don't want some friend of your ex giving the play by play action report out and sinking your love boat ! Good luck to you.

I think it's the nurturing instinct.

I've had girls do that to me a few times.
