yes...
In a large, deep skillet, heat oil to 365 degrees F (180 degrees C).
In a medium bowl, combine flour, beer, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth. Dredge onion slices in the batter, until evenly coated. Deep fry in the hot oil until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

Here is a recipe for oven baked onion rings. It has received many good reviews. Healthier and certainly less messy than fried ones.
Baked Onion Rings
INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 cups crushed cornflakes
2 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon seasoned salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
2 large sweet onions
egg substitute equivalent to 2 eggs
DIRECTIONS
In a large bowl, combine the first five ingredients; set aside. Cut onions into 1/2-in-thick slices. Separate into rings, reserving the small rings for another use. In a small mixing bowl, beat egg substitute until frothy.
Dip onion rings into egg, then into crumb mixture, coating well. Place in a single layer on baking sheets that have been coated with nonstick cooking spray.
Bake at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until onions are tender and coating is crispy.

Yes you can. Just use a skillet and/or a pot and use only about half or 2/3 of onions to put in it. The smaller the batches, the better. Just make sure that the grease is real hot before putting in any onions. Good luck and enjoy.

Yup. Just get a deep pan (or even a pot) and put a few inches of oil in it. Works like a deep fryer.

just have a pan (perferably deep) with oil up-to half way at MAX. the moisture will make the oil boil over and that is really dangerous. try to make sure that you don't have to much excess water... and other than that have fun!

That can be messy, but it works. Do yourself a favor and get one of those round screen things with a handle because they let the moisture out and keep the grease droplets in.
