Been homeless... well semi-homeless (couch-surfing) for some time now. Few friends and no family for help. Hard to keep a job in this situation. Motels are expensive. Social services is a joke. I'm a 25 year old male in Riverside county, Ca. Very few shelters out here, all of which play favorites. I guess I have to wait till I can barely walk and my teeth fall out to establish myself as a legitimate vagrant..lol. Anyways I was hoping to find some type of volunteer type organization that offered room and board. Haven't had any luck so far. Even thought about comiting some sort of petty crime just to get locked up for awhile. Any leads would be helpfull.

Whoa! Honey! Look into homeless transitional centers. I stayed at a place in Santa Monica called Turning Point. These places are somewhat hard to get into because so many people need them. There are requirements to get in & then commitments to fulfill while you stay. The minute I found a job (which I did right away) they begin to keep 80% of your income (you keep the 20% for "WAM"). When you are ready to go (like when you've found a place to live) they give you back all the money they saved for you. I walked away with $5 thousand after 9 months. They 'gave' me a Section 8 voucher & now I live in a wonderful apartment for very little money. I was lucky but these things are out there....go find 'em!! Good luck!
