Do all sibling fight?....my kids fight like cats and dogs all the time, they sometimes get quite vicious. They are not around fighting, my husband and i never argue in front of them, i always watch what they see on television, i dont let them play violent games, but it seems they will fight over absolutely everything no matter how small, do they really dipise each other so much or do you think this could be an attempt at gaining our attention as there are 4 of them.?

yes they do! LOL Some days are worse than others. This is indeed an EXTREME example but on Sunday my 3 year old son got mad at his 4 year old sister & threw a toy at her. It hit her in the back of the head & made quite a gash in her head. For a few minutes I thought we might have to go to the emergency room for stitches but we didn't. NOT FUN!

Hey mummy,

That is a possibility. However, I have an older sibling, we are 5 years apart and both female. Our personalities are so different that even though we are both now adults and in our twenties not a day goes by where we don't squabble about something. My parents never fought in front of us, we never had video games but sometimes it could just be that each child wants their own time with mom or dad and their own space. Not having my own room until I was into my teens caused a lot of tension between my sister and I. My best friend is a middle child and close in age to her two sisters, their house is constantly buzzing with arguments. Sometimes its normal in an abnormal sort of way, as they get older they will find they are so occupied with other things that the fighting should subside.

If they are all close together age wise (two, maybe four years apart)--this could be one of the reasons why. My friends who have siblings that are 5 or more years older or younger than themselves tend to get along better than those who are more closely related in age.

It could also be that your kids have REALLY different personalities and have a difficult time relating to each other. Try finding things that they ALL love and enjoy and have them all participate in such an experience. (just don't force it on them, otherwise it sucks all of the fun out of the situation).
Sometimes it's just the fact that they may be around each other alot. Try to have them spend a nice amount of time away from each other sometime if possible.

Hope this helps!

I am from a family of 4. I am also a teacher who sees siblings interact all the time. The answer is YES! A family with kids who do not fight is rare. Part of it is competition for different things (parents attention, being the best at something). Part of it has to do with personalities. Some has to do with birth order, and some has to do with gender and how close they are to one another.

There are tons of books on the subject that might help alleviate your fears, or give you things to look for that are potential red flags.

Most kids do fight. A family friend used to tell her kids to go outside to fight because she didn't want blood on the carpet. They don't dispise, watch a show about pack animals on Animal Planet and you will see the similarities. I would say it is deffinatly trying to gain ALL of your attention as well as approval, they all want to be "the golden child" of the family. I suggest ignore the fighting, send them outside so nothing in the house gets broken or bloddied and bandage the wounds when they're finished.

Me and my brothers fought all the time growing up . It's just something that most siblings do . I don't think they Despise each other , and as for wanting attention ,well maybe or maybe not . Sometimes they just get very easily frustrated with each other since they are around each other all the time .

# 1. DON'T HAVE ANY MORE KIDS!
# 2. Yes its normal to try to gain attention.
# 3. My sister and I are a year apart and we fought. When we did, our mother used to sit us in a room, facing each other indian style, and just stare at each other until we were happy again. We soon realized that every time we fought we were gonna have to stare at each other...the fighting stopped! Or it was kept quiet and we learned how to solve the problem ourselves.

good points from those people above..

but ive you have 4 kids, i think its about them not having there own stuff and not enough room for them to think.

i got lots of cousins and friends with lots of kids and cousin etc.. etc.. and it usually comes down to ,
just 1 or maybe 2 kids that are total assholes, some adults are total assholes and selfish pricks, guess what they were like that as kids to.. small assholes grow into big assholes.

maybe one of your kids is really selfish and debating about ownship of stuff all the time.

it might not be ur case, but think about it, coz it is true.
im 24 now, my lil bro's 22 and he has always been a selfish prick
my whole family agrees, some people are just born total assholes

All siblings fight, i would just make sure it never gets too physical, but once in while there might be a slap or even a punch. Just make sure they talk it out and resolve it at the end
