We actually had this problem getting a king-size bed into our basement.

What you need are two VERY strong people to fold the mattress in half, like a taco. It sounds funny, but it's the only way that it will work.Hopefully, your box-spring things (the harder thing under the mattress) is in two parts. If not, then you'll have to go buy a box spring that is in two separate sections.

It is possible to take apart the box spring and then re-assemble it once it is upstairs. But I would buy a king bed (if your bedrooms will accomodate the extra foot width). Kings have 2 twin box springs which would be easier to navigate. Just be careful on the mattress though--if it is one of those very thick mattresses you will not be able to bend it to get it upstairs. Then you would be stuck with 2 beds and nowhere to put them.

When I bought my townhome they had to pop the windows out...but I never thought that was possible.

I've heard others had to get a king size bed (that was really 2 twin type beds hooked together with a foam topper.

Also I heard others went with that foam thing that has a think frame and thick flexible foam top (tempurpedic).

Our solution was to build a frame in place of the box spring (it was built in the bedroom) The mattress was wrestled and wiggled and folded every which way until it made it up the stairs. Good Luck!

We did the taco thing with my king bed. Took 2 big guys and about 45 minutes.

Could you do a king size (memory) foam mattress with two twin bed box springs?

Have you tried literally folding the mattress in half? You could take the bed apart and build it when you get upstairs

goodluck

Sell it and downsize to a full. You can't change the dimensions of the house/walls ! Good luck

I don't know but did you take it all the apart?
You may have to just buy a new one.
Try turning it every direction.
