Usually, yes. Traditionally the bride's parents pay for everything except the flowers and rehearsal dinner, which the groom's parents cover. It's less likely that the costs will be split like that these days, but most parents try their best to give something to help out.

While most couples pay for at least part of the wedding themselves, most parents are still contributing financially to their children's weddings.

Most parents will contricute something to their children's weddings...my parents gave me a choice; 30k towards a home or towards the wedding...I chose the home and I haven't looked back!

These days, with most couples working and out on their own, they usually pay for their own weddings. However, parents can kick in some funds to help out.

if they can afford it, it would be nice.
when my husband and i got married last year, his parents gave us 2500. my parents gave us 4000. my side was about 30 percent of the guest list...so i wish his parents gave us more...but that doesn't happen.
but to sum this up, yes parents tend to donate some money to the FIRST wedding.
