I'm currently living in Western Australia and would like to move to the US with permanent residency. Where do I go to apply?
I'd prefer to get in through employment so are there certain types of jobs that are accepted?
Can I do the types of jobs travellers do (au pair, camp counsellor) and then find something more permanent later?

The types of visas others have recommended do NOT lead to permanent residency - they are strictly non-immigrant visas.

Here is information on employment-based immigration:

I know that Epcot hires people from other countries on a work visa. Then once you get into the country, you would have to fill out all the papers.

As far as I know, you go to the U.S consulate and apply for a work visa. As far as jobs, look on Monster.com and apply for some. When you get a job, use it to put on the visa. We welcome good people in the U.S. so come on in!
