I wouldn't do it, bc it could turn out frizzy. It's high maintenance bc you have to deal with the roots growing in less curly. Also, if you want to highlight over permed hair, it will really fry it.

Use other curling methods or have her do a consult for styling at a good salon instead - they will show her ways to achieve that look.

She can also do the gel and scrunch and dry a "little bit" with a diffuser.

If her hair is already wavy, and we are talking about a 'curly perm,' I would say don't do it. I am black and have a perm (making my hair straight) but when I want curls I take sections of my hair and wet it (either with plain water or a leave in conditioner), but not so that it is drenched. Then I just twist that section until it is so tight it starts to 'collapse' onto itself and forms a coil, which I secure with a hairpin. I let it sit over night and it's dry when I get up. Take out the pins and run my fingers through it and I've got a head full of curls that last. If I want to keep the curls for a few days I just re-twist them each night and secure it all with a scarf. This is something she can play with...bigger sections of hair will give bigger curls, and she can blow-dry or wash it out without any permanent damage to her tresses!

Does emmy rossums have very small poodle curls ? DONT DO IT. Perms are a disater to any type of curl you have right now, if you have a good curl that you just need to add a few productsto then & scrunch it then I wouldnt do it, I did it I was horrified at what it does to your hair..Breaking it..wise.

If she wants a perm, than go for it. The only advice I have is that she get it done professional therefore the hair won't be over processed and cause damage.
