I like this guy and he is single, but his girlfriend just broke up with him. They broke up on bad terms, and he is rather upset and angry about it. How can I get him to like me while still respecting his heartache and without becoming just a rebound?

Give him some time and support. Don't jump into something while he is hurting, it will not last. Let him know you are there for him without getting physical. Make him have fun as you get to know him better. Make him forget the former gf by being fun to be around. If he becomes interested he will show it. The best way to get a person interested is by spending time around them, talking about things he finds interesting, being a challenge, flirting enough that he enjoys being around you without pressuring him. Hopefully it will work out, remember it will be his loss if it does not happen, but don't let him use you as the rebound girl that he wants to hurt as a way to feel better. He thinks he is hurtin gthe former gf but is not really.

Go and console him. That would help.

Why not just be yourself, and just be his friend.
