I've looked it up in the dictionary and in Wikipedia, and I still don't have a clue what paraphrasing is.

Paraphrase means to take a piece of writing and rewrite it, this time in your own words. It is not the same as writing a summary. You have to include all the important as well as minor details, but using words that are probably simpler. The paraphrased work will be easier to understand than the original piece of writing. It doesn't use the same words or phrases as the original piece of writing and it is often somewhat longer than the original. It is sort of like taking one of Shakespeare's plays and rewriting it in modern English. I hope this helps.

To paraphrase means to take someone elses words or ideas and put it in simpler, more understandable language. For example in Hamlet he says "To be or not to be, that is the question" to paraphrase that you would say the question is should I live or die. If you are writing a paper and you paraphrase you still have to give the original author credit as it was their idea, even if you put it in your words.

A paraphrase is a summary that reflects the same ideas as the authors words, yet it is written in your own words. A summary is when you change the line of thought that the original author had into your won thoughts. Both should be understandable without reading the original works.

To "paraphrase" means simply to put something in your own words.

For example, the quote from Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" that goes "Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?" might be paraphrased as "Dude, where you at?"

Bad grammar, but effective example.

its kind of like restating something in yuor own words u can still share some of the broad ideas similar to what u read its just that whatever you write has to be in your own words and cant be a direct copy of what you just read or else you will commit plagarism which is illegal

A paraphase of something is basically taking a statement and putting it in simpler terms or in your own words.
