I have heard some of my friends say that I act white, which is me listening to rock and pop. I like all kinds of music.

No, do what you have to do to get ahead. Being smart and/or dressing properly doesn't mean you are trying to be white or that you're a sell-out. Music is personal preference...

The way I understand it, the highest GPA is 4.0. If you think you have a GPA average of 90, then you think you are, on average, over 22 times smarter than the smartest kids in school.

As for your unusual question about how you are acting, I think your mentor would be the person to question. Don't you agree that he knows you better than anyone on the internet could?

No, you are not acting "white." you are acting like yourself which is the right thing. i am white, and sometimes I hope it doesn't appear as if I'm trying to act black. I am only being me. So if a hip hop song comes on and I get that feeling like I just want to start moving with the beat, it's something I can't help.

Ask your "friend" what, then, acting "black" mean to him..... and see if he makes *any* sense.

Seem like you are acting _properly_ which is somewhat rare these days. If dressing properly, get good grades, have an aspiration to go to college makes you "act white," then think, what opposit of THAT is and see if you want to be THAT person.

I am aware, many kids of all color wants to look and act rough, tough, care free, and "look at me, I'm doing what I want - I don't care what YOU think" type of behavior. Obviously, that is not your style.

Do what YOU want. People will always find ways to criticize you. (been there)

No, you have to pick up the white script at the racial assignment office.

Who cares what people think, whoever decided only certain things can go for a 'race' and not other things is an idiot. So you aren't supposed to try to do well for yourself and work for a bright future? Anyone who actually tries to give you that vibe, forget them, you don't need them holding you back.

What is "acting White"? Having some pride in yourself and wanting to get ahead in life is not acting white, just a good example to follow.

Acting white would be if you started oppressing people.

I'm only kidding. Most whites I know now aren't elitist.

Just be yourself. Like Michael Jackson said, "it don't matter if you're black or white."

And this is a health question?

Act like you want to act...be who you are...that's what is important...if you can look yourself in the mirror and like the person you see there, what more could you want?

It certainly doesn't sound like you're acting "white" to me. It sounds like you're just a really together kid. Good for you!
