It is a very good cause. I donated about a foot and a half last summer and my hair is so thick that the hair dresser turned it into 3 pony tails to donate. They were so excited! Locks of Love only requires a tail of 10 inches in order to donate. She could have her hair cut to shoulder length now, and still have enough to donate.

My 12 year old daughter has donated her hair twice to Locks of Love. She had 12 inches cut off each time. It is so important to my daughter. She loves the fact that some child will get her hair. It is a way she can help.
It was very hard on me, I love her beautiful curly blond hair. So, be prepared for how different your daughter will look. It made my "baby" look so grown up. If you don't think you can handle your daughter with short hair, wait until you can handle having about 12" cut.
Your daughter is lucky to be able grow her hair so long!

I work with a woman that has a child with aleopecia. My daughter developed a friendship with this little girl and when my daughter went off to college she talked about the Locks of Love Foundation and a group of her soriety sisters all let their hair grow and donated it. These 12 girls presented it to the child with aleopecia and donated in her honor. Great cause to donate to.

Yes I have heard of it my daughter and I always donate at leat 12 inches each every couple of years. When you cut it depends on how long/short you want her hair to be after the cut.

Locks of Love is great. Just make sure when her hair is cut, her stylist puts it in a ponytail holder to keep it together. You only have to have 10 inches to donate.

You only need 10 inches to donate, so 21 is more than plenty. It is such a great cause. Lots of stylists will give her a haircut for free if she is donating so check around!

Tell your daughter about Locks of Love and what they do. Then let her decide.
