I'm wanting to help the military get good men and women so I go into the area of 800,000 dollar homes and people who make 300 thousand dollars a year and ask if I can get their strong young men and women to join but I have not had much luck. They vote for Mr Bush so why do they not want their children to serve in the Military? These are outstanding people who have a lot to offer so I'm asking them to join and serve proudly. Why do they slam their doors in my face?

The military is a hot topic for some people right now. I come from a long line of military men, and I think serving your country is an admirable, brave thing to do. But, not all people are interested in being in the military. That would be like asking everyone to be a police officer, some people just wouldn't want to. Some people may be afraid, after all it can seem pretty scary. Some people do not believe in our armed forces way of doing things. (Although everyone enjoys our freedoms protected by them.) I guess there are many reasons to numerous to list...

It's true. People stand for something sometimes but do not want to be a part of the action. I disagree it's just these richer folk though.

I'm not "for" Bush but you know what? How much more is complaining going to do? The democrats won the elections so well--can't you just be happy about that! It's not a matter of who does what or how deep in poop we are now. It's a matter of being active. It's a matter of voting and educating people so they do vote irregardless of who for.

No matter who was "in charge" on 9/11 someone would've had to do something. Bush did something--was it smart? I don't know. AM I happy my husband missed my son's birth and is going to miss my son's first birthday because he'll be "vacationing" in Iraq? No. If I just sit around on Y!A and complain about it--what good will that do?

Why don't you join the military? Why don't you become part of recruitment? Why don't you do something, anything, instead of wasting space on Y!A!

They paid there $300 to keep their kids out. Been going on in this country since the Civil War Other kids go and they gripe about their taxes. I believe this is what John Kerry was trying to say but he fumbled badly. There aren't too many Pat Tillman's out there. And there shouldn't have to be.

It's relatively simple: people don't want to go into the military because they don't want to deal with the discipline, or the possibility of being shipped somewhere dangerous where they're likely to get hurt or killed. People who actually want to proudly serve their country are few and far between.

Young people don't want to go into the military because they don't want to be shot at, get disciplined, and put in harsh conditions.

Because the youth is lazy, and are moddern hippies, seeing rules as a threat. Its a shame that my generation is part of a degenerate culture. Im only 18, but as soon i turned 18 i registered to vote, and voted when the time came, and i have 3 years left until i commission as an army officer. It makes me sad and disgusted to see my generation turn out to be like this.

Right. I can see that happening.
How many doors did you knock on?

Were you wearing a recruiter uniform for any particular branch of the military?

I am surprised they opened the door to you in the first place.

Well, George W. Bush didn't fight in any war and he supports the Military and War in Iraq. I say they're just following the lead, which for once would be smart. As a recruiter, I'm sorry for your disappointment. I don't think they're dumb in doing so.
