So they were feeling fine yesterday and the day before... I had my wisdom teeth removed on the other side of my mouth so I've been using my right molars to chew since Friday. They were giving me no problems until earlier today when I was eating a hot quesadilla... suddenly one of my molars felt a little bit sensitive. Nothing OW but it was feeling a bit sensitive. Right afterwards I drank some cold water (not ICE cold but from the fridge) and my teeth felt sort of sensitive to that too.

So could it be my fillings are making my teeth feel sensitive, even though it wasn't a deep cavity at all? And why 3 days after having them filled would they bother me? I did eat a few tangerines today--could the acidity be linked? Hairline crack in my molar (dentist didn't say anything about hairline cracks but then again, he wasn't looking for any)? My teeth were filled with that white filling, not the metal kind.

I can't exactly not chew using the molars in question because the other side of my mouth underwent wisdom teeth extraction. ^^;;

THE SENSITIVITY EXPERIENCED WITH GETTING WHITE (COMPOSITE) FILLINGS IS NOT AN UNUSUAL THING. DON'T FORGET THAT ANYTIME A TOOTH IS DRILLED IT CAN REMAIN SENSITIVE.
ANOTHER THING THAT MAY MAKE TEETH SENSITIVE TO COLD OR ACIDIC FOODS IS GUM RECESSION. HAVING HAD EXTRACTIONS PREVIOUSLY YOU MAY INDEED FEEL SOME PAIN IN THE BACK WHERE THESE TEETH HAVE NOT HAD THE GUMS HEAL COMPLETLY FIRST. WAIT 1 WEEK TO SEE HOW THINGS GO. IF THEY GET BETTER--NO WORRIES, IF NOT SEE YOUR DENTIST.

You could have a cavity their or maybe the enamel has thined in that tooth.If this is first time this has happened you may want to look for a cavity or a crack in the tooth,then you will need a dentist to repair it .Some people do have a sensitivity to hot and cold and their are products in the toothpaste line that can be used to help eleviate this.

relax and wait a bit. Givei t a day or two and it will usually settle down. if your filling is new, try notot chew too much from it for at least two weeks. Dentists sayotherwise, experience says take care. Don't bite anything hard. I don't think it's a hairline crack but it the ow feeling contniues after a week go back to your dentist. since your fillingi s new, you might not have to pay for a further examination

I hope it's not a problem like I had where the filling was too close to the nerve and broke through the material left in the tooth and into the nerve of the tooth. That was a nightmare and very costly because you have to get a root canal. If the cavity/decay was deep, it could happen.

Or it could be an infection that needs some penicillin.

after reading and trying to picture what u have done by ur dentist it sounds like the nerves have been exposed and this is why your getting the sensitive feeling or the fillings haven't been caped properly and certain foods will be more tender than others especially the cold stuff as ur starting to find out and i reckoned u better go back to your dentist and ask him what he has done ans should u be experiencing the sensitivity side like u are.
good luck and i hope this helps.

You should talk to your dentist. When I had my crown put in, the dentist told me not to worry about cold affecting my teeth; but if heat affected my tooth to let him know immediately. (Not sure for a filling). FYI, the porcelain filling is not as durable as the metal filling.
