I have some homemade chicken enchiladas that were made yesterday afternoon and then put in the fridge until about 9pm. After that they were accidently left in my car until about noon today. Would they be safe to eat or is that a bad idea?

Depends where you live. If your in the northeast and it is cold outside 50 degreed or less, you should be ok. reheat till internal temp reaches 165 degrees for 2 minutes. If you live in a area where it is hot (florida, nevada, etc) i would discard them immediately. Even though the food was cooked, the heat will just bake, wilt and eat away at the flavors

Sometimes bacteria emits chemicals into the food which cause it to taste funny, however ...
from the webiste: ...Do not taste food to determine its safety.

The following foods should be discarded if kept more than two hours above 40 degrees:

Meat, poultry, fish, eggs and egg substitutes (raw or cooked), milk, cream, yogurt and soft cheese; casseroles, stews or soups, lunch meats and hot dogs; creamy salad dressings; custard, chiffon or cheese pies; refrigerated cookie dough; open mayonnaise, tartar sauce and horseradish if above 50 degrees for more than eight hours.

No it is not safe.It was in your car and many cars have odors and bacteria and if the car was parked outside then it has bacteria if it was parked in the garage then still no it is not safe because the garage has cobwebs, dust, spiders, and possibly more.So I suggest you throw out the food now.

I wouldn't eat it b/c it probably developed bacteria (even if it was closed the whole time), but if you are determined, go ahead. You never know. Maybe you'll be fine. Me personally, that's too long for it to have sat out.

You only have two hours before little germy things start reproducing on food. Unless it's really cold out!

How cold was it outside? If it was in the 40s, probably ok. Otherwise throw them out.

If in doubt, throw it out. It is not worth making yourself sick. Order a pizza!

I would toss them, you shouldn't leave poultry out that long. Better to be safe then sorry.
