A coxcomb or cockscomb is a plant, a celosia with a fuzzy bloom that resembles a rooster's comb, the fleshy part (red on most, but not all breeds of chickens) that is above a chicken's eyes. The part underneath the beak is a wattle. A crest or crown is feathers that stand up on top of a bird's head. On a turkey, that dangling worm-thing is called a snood.
