I'm feeling crazy right now. I need to figure out what's wrong with me. I feel depressed. I feel like I have some mental condition, but maybe I don't and Im telling myself that to give myself an excuse for how crappy I am.

I was talking with my mom and she asked me why I don't hang out with anyone. She suggested that I don't feel like I fit in. Which is totally right, but it shouldn't be. I look normal, if not attractive. In fact I see girls checking me out a lot. But I don't feel normal and sometimes when I look into the mirror it's as if that person isn't really me, or im not good enough to be that person. I wonder why anyone really likes me because I see nothing in me.

Maybe I really am depressed. Maybe I just want attention. I really don't know. I shouldn't have any reason for being depressed. I only have one more day of school and then I have a big thanksgiving break. I should be feeling happy.

Also, listen to a little, "Joel Osteen". I gave you a link. He is good when it comes to topics like this. You can listen to all his stuff for free. If you have an Ipod, he also has free podcasts. It's not a cure, but it may really lift your sprits a lot.

I agree with what Ra-Ra said. Yap, you might be lack of self esteem. That is good you have concious to notice yourself in low. From my personal view, you maybe put too much attentions focusing on youself rather establishing some friendship, hobbies or exercising. Body image is a part of process of life especially at teen age. You might need to spend more time to explore yourself to get known yourself and spend some time with friend to know what difference you with them in norm. Maybe the zone you are located is not much sunlight with lot of snow right now. If that so, why not get your butt out to take a walk to absorb few sunlight daily, then you wouldn't feel a bit depressed like now. Try it.

it sounds to me like u have a low self esteem and that this could lead to eventual depression, which i have. from what u have said, u sound like someone who SHOULD be happy, but there is obviously something holding u back, some ignored event or something in ur life that u haven't fully contemplated in ur mind and therefore gotten rid of. what u need to do is make a list of the pros and cons of ur life. see what there is to love about ur life and what there is that isn't so great. how can u change those things? can u personally do something to improve any aspect of ur life? u sound like someone who's got a lot goin for u if u set ur mind to it. just remember- everyone is special and beautiful in their own ways, inside and out. u have no reason to feel worthless because u r not. make ur life mean something. be something and someone that u can be proud of. don't worry about what others think of u. u r awesome!

To me, you do sound like you're depressed.

There is this depressive disorder called "dysthymia", which, in general terms, means a constant crappy mood.

"Major depressive disorder", which is what simply "depression" generally refers to, is characterized by attacks of major depressive symptoms (like the ones you mentioned, and of great severity; I do not know how severe your symptoms are). These attacks last upwards of 2 weeks, and rarely can last up to 6 months if untreated.

"Double depression" refers to people who have major depressive disorder on top of dysthymia. These individuals feel sorta down all the time, and also have episodes of severe depression on occasion.

In any event, you need to speak with your physician, who hopefully can guide you to find a proper therapist. After consulting with your physician and therapist, you may wish to consider medication, but that is in the distant future, and you should focus on initiating your treatment first.

I hope this helps!

that's really up to you. Do you like the life you have going for ? If you are feeling unsure and insecure about of yourself speak with a counselor, they'll probably give you an answer that you're looking. Personally, I think you just feel a little lost and confused.

Trust me you don't suffer from depression. Depression is an ongoing illness that if left un treated can do some serious damage over time. Your just a kid going through problems most likely at home or school that you don't want to talk about. Maybe you dread holiday get-together who knows but it is definitely not depression.
