Nothing. But some people think its wrong or trashy or whatever to put things like tattoos on your skin.

Don't freak out. Its on the underside of your arm, isn't that noticeable, and you can easily cover it with long sleeves for work. Do I like it? I'm not a big fan of word tattoos but it looks like it was done well so I can't complain. Care for it by washing it a couple of times a day with antibacterial soap and water, patting it dry or just letting it air dry. After its dry, rub something on it to keep it moist. I have used A&D ointment before with satisfactory results, but I like Curel Ultra Healing Lotion because it isn't sticky or gooey. You can rub the moisturizer on it several times a day if you need to, just any time it feels dry to the touch rub some in. Your tattoo artist should have gone over this with you before you left the shop. Good luck to you!

Because a lot of older people associate tattoos with outlaws and the "bad side" of life as it was 50+ years ago.. now to say that now all of a sudden you are a bad person is pretty messed up... you don't go from being a good person to a bad one from getting a tattoo... talk to her about it

Is she religious? In the Bible tattoos are strictly forbidden.
My daughter has 4 and I freaked too, and she said this to me..."Mom, you always told me my body is a temple right???"
"Well what's wrong with painting the walls?"
I had to give her points...A tattoo isn't the worst thing you can do, Grammy is probably old school...Remind her you are 22, which is 4 years past the age of consent, and not out knocking off liqueur stores....She will relax eventually (maybe) give her time!

Sweetheart, you can go on and do whatever you desire in life. Just because your grandmother objects doesn't mean you have to march back into the tattoo parlor and take off your tattoo. A lot of people hate tattoos, a lot of people think they are hot. I think they are creative and your choice - so if you want to show your body off like that, by decorating it with a tattoo, then go ahead! No one is stopping you, except you. So if you want to keep it, then keep it and if your grandmother talks like that, then tell her that she isn't God! God would urge you to do whatever you wanted, unlike your ghastly grandmother.

I've found that a majority of the elderly crowd don't take well to tattoos. (not all, but alot of them) I don't think you're going to convince her it's not a bad thing either. My only suggestion would be to cover it up with a shirt with longer sleeves or a jacket when you're around her, and hope the out of sight out of mind theory works. She might even take that as you respecting her dislike of tattoos. If that doesn't appease her, tell her that you like it, it's on your body, and that's all that matters.

some people, especially older people don't understand that tattoos are more acceptable today than they were years ago. i wouldn't worry too much about it. but maybe next time you get a tattoo, don't show her? i haven't shown my grandparents any of my recent tattoos because they are big and i don't want them to freak out. there's no reason for me to worry them. good luck!

Nothing is wrong with a tattoo. It's your body. It is not like you got a tattoo of Satan.

My grandma was more accepting than my parents. The other grandma doesn't know but was quoted saying that tattoos make you 'common'. She'll get over it, don''t worry.

grandmas are just old fashioned, dont worry.
there is nothing wrong with tattoos as long as you are 100% certain you are ready to live with it on your skin for the rest of your life.
