It's called "cold in eye" and I would see a doctor to make sure it's not infected or "Pink eye" this could be contagious.

if your eye is red and is crusting over in the morning you may have conjuctivitis....this is highly contagious and has to be treated with antibiotics. if you work in heath care or in the food industry you shouldn't be working. another sign that's what you have is itching and yellow drainage. could be one or the other eye. wash your hands and have those around you wash their hands frequently (always a good idea during flu and cold season anyway). go see a doctor...not something you can treat otc.....sorry

I think you'll need anti-biotics. Cause my son had that once. His
eyes were swollen shut! They were just a little runny at first. But
I had to take him to ER, Doc said it was a cold in his eyes...I never heard of that. But he was ok after the meds. Anti-biotics....

a stye? its usually a blocked tear duct or an infected eyelash follicle. Use a hat compress on the eye and don't rub it, and wash your hands, they are contageous.
