Hey Mint,

You should take a course in Genealogy. This would help you a lot, to uncover the lost history, you need to start with yourself. Look at your Birth certificate. It tells your parents information. Use that to get their Birth Certificates. Get your parents Marriage Certificate too. Those are available through Vital Records for the town where the event took place. Then you begin to have clues about your Grandparents from your parents Records.

You can use OBITS for your Grandpa. Also try FAMILY Search. That will at least list his death date. Check out the sites I am providing. Be agressive on them, try things over and over with slight variations on the searches (with a first name then without, with an exact match, then without).

Do searches for TOOLS to help you, like in Yahoo Search line put: "Thailand Cemetery", you may find where you can write to get info on your grandparents too.

1. Go to www.rootsweb.com and enter their names in the search fields on the left (the ones on the right are for a pay site).

2. Go to www.familysearch.org and enter your grandparents' names in the search fields.

The second one might be a better bet, since it is run by the Mormons and they've done a lot more international work than the folks at Ancestry or Rootsweb. In fact, you might want to check your phone book's yellow pages under "genealogy" for a "family History Center" in your area. The centers are run by the Mormons and are in most metropolitan areas. They serve as outlets for the main genealogy library in Salt Lake City. The staff there can probably help.

Also, the Mormons have a catalog called the "Locality Catalog" which may be able to tell you what records are available from Thailand. They may have the catalog on their web site, but they're certain to have one at your local Family History Center.
Check the web site to see if they have one there.

Good Luck!

PS: Ignore the un-American comments from the person who advised you to exhume your grandparents. Patriotic Americans are not like him, but unfortunately internet forums like this one will always attract the worst types.
