Hi, If you have not developed a infection already then you will be fine! Relax. I wore contacts for 11 years before finally settling on surgery. Try not to sleep long hours with them but if you accidently do, remember to use lubrication drops on the contacts before you take them out. Also if possible switch to glasses for a day or so you give your eyes & contacts a breather.

When your contacts expire, remember to switch to monthly/fortnightly disposable lenses. They have much better water content & you can wear them for long hours safely,

Your eye need oxygen to live. Since there are no blood vessels in some parts of the eye (so your vision won't be blocked) the only way to get oxygen is for the eye to get it from the air. If you want to wear your contact even while you sleep, you have to get the special kind that let the air pass through. Otherwise your eyes are deprived of oxygen in the daytime while you wear them and you need to take them off at night so they can "breath".

I used to sell glasses and contacts part time when I was attending University and I remember seeing a few customer come in saying that they do it all the time (sleeping with their day-only contacts) and never had any problems. Except that 3, 5 or 6 years later, they can't wear any contacts, at all, not even the disposable kind, because their eyes reject it to make sure they won't ever be deprived of oxygen ever.

So what do you do now? Throw these away. There probably contaminated anyway because, by wearing them so many nights, you didn't clean them. Get new ones. Disposable or not, daily or sleep-in, doesn't matter, as long as you follow the direction for THAT kind.

Yes it is true it is not good for you to sleep in your contacts. It could make you go blind, but that will take awhile. You also run the risk of getting a bad eye infection. Try to get into a schedule with your contacts and try not to be so lazy about taking them out. Believe me I know my husband kept doing the same thing when we started dating and now he is in a routine that he doesn't mind when it comes to his contacts. He has also learned that by taking them out everynight his eyes feel a ton better in the morning then they used to.

It's not recommended at all. Sometimes I will fall asleep with my toric colored lenses in and wake up in the middle of the night with them dry. It's very uncomfortable and you have to take them out after that. Imagine a dry contact on your eye. Unpleasant.

Don't be so lazy. It's ok to nap in ur contacts for a few hours, but not to leave them in continuously unless they r extended wear. Take them out every night, clean them and leave them to soak in saline solution.

It won't hurt once maybe twice but I sure wouldn't make a habit of it.

Take them off before you go to sleep. Assuming you brush your teeth before you go to bed, make it a habit to take them off when you brush your teeth!
