It depends on how responsible, and self confident your child is. If you're trying to prevent your daughter from getting "involved" with a guy to soon, getting to know what values your daughter has is more important than her age. My parents started letting me date boys with cars when I was just 14 (before most of my friends) I also remained a virgin much longer than most of them. If you show your child that you believe in their judgement, usually they will want to please you. At the same time, I know that as a parent it is hard to let your little girl run around with a boy you don't know. It might be best to set some ground rules, such as making the boy come to your house 5 or 6 times before allowing them to go out on a date together, so that you can get to know him. Mainly it depends on the maturity of the girl, but if your daughter is 16 or 17, she's about to go off to college, and it's best if you slowly start letting her make her own decisions, rather than having her be thrown into it as soon as she leaves the house. - Good luck! I know this is a tough decision.

im a 27 year old female i wasn't allowed to go in a car with a boy (car date) until i was 16. The theory was i couldn't do it until i was able to drive a car myself. It seemed like a good working plan. If it had been younger i probably wouldn't have been as responsible and if it had be restricted till older i probably would have snuck and done it anyway. Hope this helps.

I think you should at least wait until she is 16 and that's only if you think she is ready and is responsible enough. She might get mad at you about the decision but she will thank you in the end. My mom made me wait and I was so mad because my friends were doing it at 13 years old and they ended up pregnant and having a baby and not graduating High School and you don't want that to happen. But that is just my opinion. i am going to have a baby in 2 or 3 weeks and that is my decision for my daughter. You just want the best for your little girl.

I think 16 is a good age but you need to watch who she's going on this car date with.

Age doesnt really matter. The main issue is if she is mature and responsible. If you have had issues before about sexuality, then I would say no.(Or send a younger sibling,if any). Meet the guy before you let her leave with him, let her know that you trust her and you want to get to know a little about her date so that you can honestly say that you trust him too. I stress on letting your daughter know that you trust her and you think she will be responsible, because that is one thing children really want(usually). Although, if your daughter isnt legal for this boy, then the answer is no.
