You did not have unprotected sex because you were taking birth control pills. The pill is effective after 7 days of active pills. You took more than 7 days of active pills before engaging in barrier free sex. Birth control pills are 99% effective in preventing pregnancy. It's highly unlikely that you are pregnant.

I'm assuming that you just started taking birth control pills last month. This is most likely the cause of the nausea you are experiencing. When you start 'the pill', it takes your body a few months to adjust to the hormones and during these first few months you may experience side effects like nausea. Try taking your pill with food, late at night or taking ginger pills or motion sickness medication to control the nausea. As for your period, the pill does have that effect. It can make your period very short and very light especially during the first few months. If you are very worried about pregnancy, take a test, but again the pill is 99% effective and it's highly unlikely that you are pregnant unless you are overweight, taking antibiotics, using epilepsy medication/certain mood stabilisers or taking herbal medications like St. John's Wort.

In the future, I suggest that when you get a new prescription, you read the information pamphlet that comes with the drugs and refer any questions or concerns that you may have about side effects to your doctor or pharmacist.

If this is your first time on the pill, it can make your periods wacky for a couple of months. Having spotting or what you think is a period in between isn't uncommon. Having nausea with the pill isn't uncommon either. If you started the hormones the first day of your period, then technically you didn't have unprotected sex...if this is how your dr told you how to use it. Mine did as well and my period was as wacky as yours the first few months.

The way it sounds, you could be pregnant. Check with your ob/gyno it could be the kind of birth control on, and the fact that you stopped could be another reason you had another period...good luck!
