I'm not necessarily out to lose weight, but has anyone done a safe and effective body detoxification? I have read a lot of good things about a fast to help your body get cleansed, but most rely on "miracle juices" or something like that that you have to buy. Anyone have any home remedies? Thanks!

It depends on how long you want this detox diet to last. The best method I have found (and the cheapest) is to only eat raw vegetables and fruit (as much as you want) plus about 3 servings of very high fiber grain for a week. Be sure to eat lots of beans (cooked) for protein too. Also drink only water. You will have lots of movement if you know what I mean. I would not suggest that for long term though because it lacks fat in the long run and is sometimes low in protein. Yes, you do need to eat a certain amount of fat or it screws up the chemicals in your brain and you become extremely crabby.

For long term detox cut out all fatty meats, only eat chicken or fish 3 times a week, eat the majority of your food from raw fruits and vegetables. Add olive oil to everything you do cook for the essential fat. Pour ground flax seed (in the health food section) on all your salads. It is ok to eat cereal as long as it is in the organic section, high in fiber, and low in sugar. I would suggest you exchange organic whole grain oatmeal for the cereal though. If you need sweetener, add honey (not sugar or those substitutes). Don't drink anything except water or green tea. Eat the whole fruit instead of drinking the juice because it is better for you. Don't eat any breads or grains that have below 2 grams of dietary fiber per serving. Vegetables, vegetables, and more vegetables. I have found huge amounts of raw vegetables to be an excellent diuretic as well as a colon cleanser.

Best thing is to fast, drink loats of water. Do this for a day, then move into a healthy eating plan, starting with fruit and vegatables, on a miniamal basis for a day. Then moving into a normal vegetarian diet, fruit, vegatables, bread (brown, seeded) for the next couple of days.

Your body will be cleansed and feel much better. If you want to stay healthy keep with this diet and minimise your intak of meats, using only red once a week and fish up to three times a week. Increase the intake of pulses for iron and energy. Chick Peas are the best vegaterian source for everything.

I just tried a Fruit Flush 3 day detox by Jay Robb. Its supposed to help you lose up to 9 lbs as well as cleanse your body of the toxins. I lost 5 lbs and I did feel healthier. The thing I liked about it is that it was only for 3 days and I didn't have to only drink liquids. If you want to know more about it, you can e-mail me jnguyen115@yahoo.com.
I don't want to post the whole thing on here since I bought the book lol.

I'm using Isagenix. It is safe and effective for cleansing. I would recommend it. A Naturopathic physician turned me on to it.
