As a guy myself, I will say that the most important way you should act around her is RESPECTFULLY. Guys and girls are built very differently and think in very different ways. Pay more attention to her and to the way she expresses herself, and put yourself aside. Listen to her when she talks and show interest in what she is saying. When you give a woman what she wants and needs, she will do the same for you. Make the first move by putting her first, and when she sees your commitment to this she will also put you first.
(and this is coming from a gay guy).

I try to act normal but this almost always results in me over-acting and seeming like a total jerk, pretending she's not even there. Really, it's just me being nervous/shy.

lol id probably hit a post while looking at her, id be shy and not ask too many questions at first, but id try to be flirty and get my message out, like give her hints of what i think of her.

usually try to act like i would normally, ( i'm 30 years old) I still get nervous if it's someone i'm not around often.
