If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her.

What kind of lunatic would make a rape victim marry her attacker? Answer: God.

If within the city a man comes upon a maiden who is betrothed, and has relations with her, you shall bring them both out of the gate of the city and there stone them to death: the girl because she did not cry out for help though she was in the city, and the man because he violated his neighbors wife.

It is clear that God doesn't give a damn about the rape victim. He is only concerned about the violation of another mans "property".

I'm not here to debate the existence of God or whether or not God wrote the Bible. Since no Christian can agree on which is the correct translation I'm using the ones available to me.I'm here to provoke and promote critical thinking rather than blind, stupid faith.

The subjugation of females by many church doctrines is why a great many people leave the church.

And rape messages don't stop with the bible. They are prevalent in many areas of society. By viewing women as the "weaker" sex and subject to male domination, it is easy to see why rape is so commonly practiced as is sexual molestation and rape of children, who are also vulnerable.

Rapists look for two criteria. Availability and vulnerability. When women are taught on a consistent basis to defend themselves the numbers will drop. Defense includes not conditioning female children to be "nice".

Now, let's look at the KJV and translate:
Deut. 22:28
If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found;

Rape is not found. Manipulating is. In other words, he fooled her in believing to have sex before marriage. Not forced.
Some other "Bibles" are not very good translations.

In those times, that was common practice. Not necessarily nice sounding but common. Today we have that problem because of human rights activists who take the side of the accused over the side of the accuser. In our age, the criminal has more rights than the victim. And since we have a separation of church and state, and most of those same activists are actively trying to shut out the rights of religion at all, I would say it does not correlate to belief in God at all.

A Missouri woman was released because they tried and convicted her as a pedophile. The Appeals court overturned it because women cannot be charged as pedophile.
