Not too long ago my Grandmother passed away - she was 93 years old and suffered from alzheimers. Before the disease "stole her" she was a very spiritual, loving lady... does anyone know of any poems I could read at her memorial service to say goodbye.....

Thank you for your help...

you can say this, just change the name of daddy to grandma.

My dearest dad 'I love you',
I think of you each day.
I feel your arms around me,
that's how I get through my days.

Your looking down upon me,
to guide me on my way,
but its very hard without you,
each and every single day.

People always tell me,
the grieving will subside.
But how can I feel better,
without you by my side.

No matter how hard they try,
there is always so much pain,
I am all consumed by thinking,
It will never, be the same.

I know one day we'll meet,
in the Heavens up above.
It's the only thing that helps me,
to never forget, your love.

My dearest Dad, I love you,
Your with me every day.
I will keep this love within me,
forever, until that beautiful day.

If she was spiritual and a Christian, try the 23rd Psalm. If it was a different kind of spiritual, look for stuff on the Internet that you think would have made her smile. It all depends on the person. If you have a good memory of her, you can write that down and share it with everybody, or even put it in the funeral announcements in a shortened form. Tell it in the 3rd person, like take out all the formal names, etc. That way nobody else gets embarrassed. I'm sorry for your loss. May your spirits meet again under better circumstances.

First of all. My deepest condolences to you. Sometimes losing a close friend is even more painful than a family member. (At least for some of my family members anyway.) There is a song I think you should listen to before deciding whether it would be appropriate. Crystal Ship by The Doors. Normally I wouldn't recommend a Doors song for a funeral, but this one was played at my cousin's, and I broke down when I heard it. For him it was very fitting, but I don't know if it would be for your friend's memory. Good luck, and God bless.

I suggest looking at some of her favorite Bible verses. You could read them in her honor.

I just read the poem by Cobra. It is very good. You may want to go with that one.
