What are some signs to tell if a boy really likes you but won't ask you out?

A good sign that a boy likes you in my opinion would be his general interest in you. He may not ask you out right away because he is shy. That doesn't mean he doesn't like you. Maybe give him some time and a few hints so that he knows you like him to. Just try to be subtle about it. If he is shy he might not want you to be the complete opposite. Also maybe he wont ask you out because he thinks your too good for him.. Make him feel comfortable enough to ask you out.

Depends upon his age. In my experience I've girls turning out to like me when I was in High School that actually acted like they hated me for years! Completely hated me though I had no idea they liked me I thought they just despised me for no reason, so look out for that one.
As you get older it tends to get easier if you ask me. If the person doesn't come right out and say it. Look for hints in their body language. Do they want to flirt with you? Or do they just flirt with everybody anyway?
There's all sorts of ways of telling but the best option is just to ask the person in question for an answer and hope they're telling the truth!

Depends on the age if he 12 or 13 he may sock you in the arm or give you small things
He will lean in towards you.
He will talk with you when people are not arround
He will try to walk with you a bit
or be really acting stupid like doing funny things to impress you.

he stares at u and try to get more personal or emotional with u. For a shy guy then they just stare at u and if u catch them in the act they will turn away

i say we men just like to know up front if u like a guy men love bold women that ask a guy out or just go up to us and say hey i like u wanna go out

a way to tell if a guy likes you is if he likes to say hi to u, he smiles at you when you walk by him, if he seems to act weird around you, and if u are friendsb ut he flirts w/u then he definitely likes you. one guy that asked me out, before he asked me out he kept calling me a slut. (which makes no sense), another guy that asked me out kept saying hey i know u. and then one day i seen him in the office because he had alc. and the other guy that asked me out was in there too. then dude #2 said hey he thinks your hot. and then i turned around and they were both looking at my *** i turned around and looked at my friend i was like did u c and hear that she was like did i see what? i was like both of those guys were looking at my butt. a guy from 6th, 7th, and 8th grade asked me out. ok well good luck.

If you're good friends with him, ask him about it. If you're really his friend he won't think it's weird or awkward.

Invade his personal space, start a physical game such as butt slapping or pinching.
