It is my brother, and I love him dearly. We are all concerned about his drinking, and everyone just wants to ignore it or not talk about it.

I was wondering if there was a good way to bring it up.....A few generations back we used to have alcoholism in the family, just not directly in ours growing up.

Thanks.

Okay you are taking a bigggggg step..... Your Brother is not gunna want to hear this from you... or anyone.. that is if he has a problem.

If you feel that you can handle this then I would suggest a few things.

First be prepared for a huge rebuttal.

Second pick a time when he is neither too tired or drinking.

Then simply tell him that you are worried about him and wonder if he thinks he has a problem with drinking?

If he says he hasnt the maybe he hasn't. If he says he has then maybe you can ask him what he is thinking he will do about it.

If he says he hasn't got a problem but you are still sure he has just tell him that for now you will accept his answer as true and that you love him dearly and if he feels things change and starts to feel like he has problem then you will be there for him to help him work it out.

One of the toughest, saddest, hardest things about dealing with someone you love who has an addiction of any kind is letting them own their own addiction. But... as tough as it is... it is the only way they will ever be able to help themselves.

People with these problems get angry I would say to him in a nice way you will get a liver diease that can't be turned around if you don't stop Tell him if he don't quit he will die. Tell him he is loved and you only wanted the best after you say what you say all you can do is PRAY

You need to approach this person with an open heart !!! if their your loved one you need to be honest with him or her because if they drink to the point that it looks like they can be abusing it, by speaking up you can be reallly saving them from making a serious mistake in the future like drinking and driving or eventually turning it into a habit that can hurt them for the rest of their lives. so just be honest ok !!!!

you need to be honest with your brother and hold nothing back..tough love..if you can get others to join you ...you can have an intervention..dont be suprised if he refuses to listen to you..someone with a drinking problem unless they are ready...refuse to admit they have a problem...just hang in there and be patient...for you..go to al anon meetings..they will help you cope with the problem..and give you great insight... best of luck to you..

best just to tell him,

get it out in the open

and let him know that what people think.

then he will reflect, however weakness for the sauce is one

anyone can catch, take it easy, it'll take awhile before a responsible
drinker shows

A GOOD TACTIC is to go aout to a bar with him or a resturaunt

get him drunk,, and tell him in a very compassionate tone that you want him to get help
