James I reigned as king of England from 1603 to 1625. He was the son of Mary Queen of Scots, and he had been king of Scotland before succeeding to the English throne at the death of Queen Elizabeth I. He was prompted to produce an English Bible because of the poor and tendentious copies being circulated in England. He feared these could be used by seditious religious and political factions.
His authority was one usurped from the Catholic Church, beginning with his predecessor King Henry VIII. Henry had broken with the Catholic Church and made himself the head of the Church in England, which soon enough became the Church of England. You could say James had no more authority in biblical matters than any head of state, basically none.

What Should Be Done to a Deacon Who Assaults a Child?
One of our deacons Andy DeMello of Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii, USA, physically abused a child in an act of rage by choking and strangling him. We're trying to cover this up and save face rather than punish him. We don't want to let everyone know we are practicing injustice and covering up an evil deed. Are we violating the following Scriptures?
1 Timothy 5:20
Those who sin are to be rebuked publicly, so that the others may take warning.
Ephesians 5:11
Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.
Romans 1:18
The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness
1 Timothy 3:8
Deacons, likewise, are to be men worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain.
Should we obey the following Scriptures or just pick and choose which ones don't apply to us?
Ephesians 5:11
Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.
Romans 1:18
The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness
Should we as Christians continue to use scapegoats such as gays and marijuana smokers in order to hide our hypocrisy, greed and wickedness and refusal to love our neighbors as ourselves?

God gave His ultimate gift and you are asking what we are to be thankful for?
Not to mention the multitudes of blessings He has bestowed upon this earth and its people(regardless of our actions).
God had intention of blessing man beyond belief, it was man who could not obey one simple command and it has gone on from there.....yet He continues to love us, bless us, forgive us and promises much to us!
Thanks Lord for I am thankful!
