I've always wondered if the people who alledge to "study" evil are in fact subconciously extremely attracted to it? They deny their urges to explore the evil part of their personalities by claiming they are "investigating" or doing research. Have you ever considered this? You have to admit there is an incredibly strong interest in evil in society as evidenced by movies, music, and popular culture

Fear and anger are our strongest emotions. So reading about "evil" triggers these strong emotions in us. Thus the fascination for them.

why are some people attracted to so-called "good". There are multiple reasons why someone would be attracted to what one would call "evil" it could be the fact that that is all they have ever found comfort in, or it could be someone trying to rebelling out of hurt and/or boredom. Or it could be the simple fact that they just are. Also it is human nature to want what we cannot have. Doing bad things also pumps adrenaline, which is quiet a pleasing feeling. But always remember evil and good are in the eyes of the beholder

I think you are trying to find evil in things like music and movies. There is no such thing. Music and film is an art form that expresses the feelings and emotions of the artist. There's nothing "evil" about them.

Or maybe I'm wrong. What's your definition of "evil"?

I always identified with Catherine from Wuthering Heights- the triumph of life and wild nature over boorish civilization. She was the only character in the book with both a heart and brain, but her rights were limited as a woman, and she was at the mercy of the men who ruined her. Fascinating study of character. I also did a thesis on Lord Aragorn's character from The Lord of the Rings- comparing his Hero Quest to others in medieval literature. There are many others, but these two come to mind first.

Being interested in the taboo is human nature. Why else do you think Eve took the apple? It was the attraction to that which has been expressly forbidden. People often want things they are told they cannot have more than things they can get quite easily, or already have.

Of course evil things are attractive and interesting ... if they were disgusting, would you do it without good reason to have to? lol

James wrote "Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God; for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempteth no man: but each man is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed. Then the lust, when it hath conceived, beareth sin: and the sin, when it is fullgrown, bringeth forth death. Be not deceived, my beloved brethren."

Without that initial temptation, we would not sin and be perfect ... and you know satan can't handle anything like that! lol

Taboo. Taboo is what you aren't allowed due to societal, religious or any kind of rule. It's most obvious in children, but people want what they can't or are not allowed to have.
