And I was really good. I elevated 14.5 inches (as if I was packing someone, so my legs were straight), made a lot of shots, ran pretty fast, and even played one of the officials one on one and got graded an "A" in offense and "A" in defense.

However, my question is that even though I'm really good at basketball, I want to become quicker in it, but at the same time, stronger. I'm a 13 year old, 5'8.5", 134 lbs, male. So my question is, are there any weight lifting techniques that make me quicker AND have muscle? Just look at an NBA player for example. They are not bulked but are lean and quick. I would GREATLY appreciate it if someone can help me.

Basic weight lifting will help a lot. I was a runner for years in the past, and I removed literally minutes to my times by incorporating resistance training. Concentrate on core exercises like bench press, squats, deadlifts and dips. Core exercises develop multiple muscle groups at once and maximize your strength training.

Also, there is a type of workout called pliametrics. This involves moves that will increase things like vertical jump, power, and quickness. They are things like bench jumping with a medicine ball, leaps, etc.. These exercises are geared specifically toward athletic activity. Just do a search on pliametrics and you should be able to find websites with instructions. Also, if you can afford it, a personal trainer can help, especially when starting out.

Wait for puberty because

Just running makes u very lean and you loose muscle mass,

Stretching and a little cardio will give you little results,

There are two types of bodies a running could recieve,
long distance runners have long lean muscle,
sprinters have very tight muscle

Just do all the basic weight lifting moves and you will become stronger, BUT, you must continue to play basketball to develope
the speed and endurance you want.

I would like to suggest Crossfit training for you. The Crossfit routines are purely functional and translate into ANY activity, or sport.

Best of luck!

To become quicker, strech your muscles otherwise you will be very stiff. Also, some cardio will help.
