Unfortunately, the chances the squirrel is alive is pretty impossible. If you are not sure, you can always walk up and check to see if it is breathing. I would take anything to it, if it is only taking a nap, it will get up and go get water. Where I come from, we have some really humid summers and the squirrels pretty much are self-reliant. Like I said, the squirrel is more than like dead, if it is, don't touch it just let it be.

Every squirrel I have ever seen has been dead that is lying on the side of the road.
They don't sleep there.

It is a good idea to move the carcass away from the road ... scavengers may get hit when they are eating it

laying by the side of the road is not the smartest place to sleep,it would make it vulnerable to preditors and was very likely dead,if it is injured it may bite you if you go near it

if its just laying there its probably dead already they don't stay around where there's a lot of noise,so id say it has done passed on,,good luck i hope this help,s.
