How old was the pup when he was taken from his mom and siblings?
It sounds like he did not get his canine social skills. These are very important. Even 6 weeks is really too young. That used to be the normal time but time has told. [Wonder if this wonderful breeder would keep the pup with his mom and rest of the siblings a few days. It may help. If you got the pup younger than 6
8 weeks old is the magic number to get a puppy.
The real teething starts at 4 months so be sure you have things for him to chew because his jaws are developing and he will chew and has to chew. Keep an eye on him so you can give him the correct thing to chew before he starts chewing the wrong things. Keep things picked up so he wont get them by mistake. He is still a puppy until after 2 years. Don't leave him alone unsupervised in the house he will damage something.
Have you tried a yelp when he bites too hard [or before he bites to hard and when he stops says good and/or give him the toy and continue play.] Also you might try putting pressure on his paw or pick it up and while he is biting squeeze the paw as soon as he stops biting on loosens up you loosen up too.
always have the Toy squeaky toy or tennis ball instead of you hands for him to mouth.
A good dog book: "Good Owners Great Dogs" You may find it at your local library.

When you play with your dog, be sure to always use a toy, and never your hands. Puppies don't know that our skin is more sensitive than what they can tolerate. Let your puppy know when a bite hurts by letting out an "ouch" in a yelp sounding voice, so as to sound like a litter mate. Each time you do this, the puppy will be learning that the bite was too hard. Always address a bite with this and eventually, the puppy will understand that this is hurtful. Always offer a toy instead to play with as well.

My puppy was a little older when I got her and I had the same problem. I solved the problem 2 ways. I pulled my hand away and firmly (not yelling) said "no bite". She now knows what "no bite" means and firmly stating this stops her in her tracks. When she was biting while playing or biting or chewing something she shouldn't I removed the item or my hand from her mouth and told her "switch" and replaced it with a chew toy or fleece toy. She now knows what "switch" means and what "no bite" means. This only took 2 weeks.

consistency in training is going to be the #1 thing to do. so pick out a training aid and stick with it. what I do with pups that like to bite, is grab their nose when they are trying to bite and hold it and tell them no bite in a very low and stern voice. I'll kinda shake then a bit and after a few times of that it's nipped in the but. If that doesn't work try flicking them in the nose with the no bite command. offer a toy after this happens to they can learn to divert their chewing attention. don't ruff house with them and then expect them not to want to bite and then give the command, it's too confusing. a soft kong toy is good for dogs that want to bite and chew. good luck and if all else fails consult a trainer.

all puppies go through this. Make sure that when he bites you or someone else that yelp ouch like it really hurts and tell the puppy no that hurts them redirect them to a chew toy. Kong toys are great and you can stuff them with their favorite treat, and there are several toys that you can put in the freezer which helps soothe their mouths.

I learned this in an obedience class - every time my puppy would bite, I would keep my finger in his mouth and gently push down on his tongue (not enough to hurt or choke him) but enough to be uncomfortable. He will eventually learn that your hand in his mouth = uncomfortable. Also, puppies learn by their litter mates not to bite. When a puppy bites a litter mate too hard, they yelp. Try doing this by saying "ouch" in a higher pitched voice.
Good Luck!

Ok i have the same problem! I have a lab and all that I do is gently hold her mouth shut and tell her "NO!BAD DOG!" and that is helping her learn not to do it!

I have pushed the "cheeky" area in their own mouths. They bite down and do not like it of course....then tell him..."NO BITE!"
