Teaching your dog tricks is simple. But first of all, puppy pre- school is not necessary, it's just a waste of alot of money and i would know because i've tried. My dogs all knew how to fetch, roll over, sit, high five and much more. The key ingrediant to dog training is rewarding good behaviour.
SIT: hold a small dog treat in your hand and pat the back of your dog while saying sit. for the first few days, push her bottom to the floor so she's in the sitting position. Reward her by giving her the treat and praise her. repeat this a number of times throughout the day for just enough time that she starts learning by herself.
ROLLOVER: with a chew toy in hand, show your dog the toy to let her know you want to play. say rollover and pass the toy under her stomach so that naturally she'll follow because she wants the toy. after she has rolled, praise her and reward with a treat.
FETCH: Show your dog it's favourite chew toy so that it knows you want to play. say things like 'you want the ball, you want it?!' and than throw it whilst saying fetch. pat the space of floor infront of you saying 'bring it back' and naturally, the dog will bring the toy where ever it goes, so the toy will brought to you. When She brings it to you, praise her and reward her.
HIGH FIVE: All dogs love treats, and if you have a treat, it'll want to do anything to get it. if you hold the treat just out of reach above the dogs head and say 'come on' they will start to jump for (naturally). Tell them no and continue saying 'come on' eventually they'll get the picture that jumping wont get them the treat. They'll result to begging where they stand on two legs and beg in the air. touch one of their paws with your hand and say 'high five' reward them after. After continuous repatitive training, your dog will learn. But only if you reward and praise whenever they do what you wanted.
Good Luck,
It's really cool once they can do it!!

Tricks are really fun! Just make sure you taught your dog all his basic commands(sit, down, heel, stay) High-five is a really cool trick to teach. First hold a yummy treat in your fist while holding it out to your dog. Now your dog should try and paw at your fist to get the treat(if he dosn't respond show the treat and encourage him to paw your hand, don't be afraid to play with him a little) once he does say high-five and give him lots of praise(good boy good boy good job) Repeat this over and over in a few short sessions throught the day play with him and give himlots of praise during these. gradully take away the treat and say highfive while motioning your hand he should soon beable to do this on the command of high five! Remember if he dosn't get it right away encourage him don't ever yell, hit or slap him.

think about this how would you teach someone who doesn't know any english, well um english? by showing the concepts right? chair = chair stuff like that right same thing, sit is the first thing a dog should learn after that everything else is based from sit fetch is based from sit (you want the dog to sit down so you can throw the ball) wait is another thing you want to teach after that only your own imagination will stop you

Here are some of the nontypical tricks my dog knows:
- I make a 'gun' shape with my hand and 'shoot' him, he plays dead (first teach your dog to play dead, when he's laying down, push him to the side, next, use gun sign before saying play dead, soon, you'll just have to shoot him and he will play dead)
- he can do a 'figure 8' through my legs (use a cookie and put it through your legs in a fiquire 8 shape, your dog will follow the cookie
- he can 'say his prayers', he puts his paws on chair while sitting down and puts his head down, to look like he's praying (put cookie on chair in front of him while he's sitting, he'll try to reach for it with paws, say 'say your prayers')
- he can point out my left and right feet when I ask him too (say 'where's my right foot' and have him point with his paw to your right foot, give cookie)
These are just a few of the many, many tricks my dog knows. I get a lot of trick ideas online. It takes a lot of cookies, a lot of repitition and a lot of patience, good luck!

If you want to make your dog learn how to go down then do this: Get a dog treat and make your dog sit or if your dog doesn't know how to sit then let someone hold your dog on to a leash and let them hold your dog sit up as you try to do the dog trick down.
1. Go up to your dog while with a treat in your hand
2. Put your right hand up in the air with the treat in your hand then slowy put your right hand slowly down to the floor or ground.
3. Hopefully your dog will follow the treat as you put your hand down with the dog treat in your hand. As you put your hand down to the floor/ground say the word ''down'' so your dog can memorize that in his head of what it means.
Well, hope that was alot of help! This is just a warm-up for your dog. I know other dog tricks too though. If you would like to know other dog tricks then please message me at white_rain215@yahoo.com. Enjoy!

Enroll him in a Basic Obedience Class. He will learn sit, stay, lie down, roll over etc. and you will learn how to work with him. After successful completion you can go on to more advanced classes with more advanced tricks. These classes also teach invaluable socialization lessons.

I taught my dog to shake within about an hour. I just stuck my hand out and said "shake," and then grabbed her leg and shook it myself, then pet her and said "good dog" until she got the hang of it. You can reward them with treats, but NOT every time they shake, so that they don't expect it. If you overdo it with the treats, they'll walk up to you and stick their paw out every time they want something.
