Not quite sure, since I thought I've heard both, but I'm not quite sure. I think the sympathetic/parasympathetic nervous systems have something to do with this ("fight or flight"/"rest and digest"), but I'm not quite sure into which half pain would go...

I'm guessing dilation, though it'd be attributed to the stress indirectly caused by the pain, what do you all think?

When someone is in pain, the body sends its own endorphins out to ease the discomfort... so my guess would be dilation.

i don't think its a reliable indicator of pain at all.
i have chronic (and acute periods) of pain.
my blood pressure sometimes goes up with extreme pain.
my eyes don't change.
only relation is when thee migraines hit i am more light and noise sensitive.
but i have to tell the docs in th ER they cant see it.

some drugs given for pain can effect the CNS central nervous system and therefore also the eyes.

below two expert groups can answer more for sure.

the pupil will be dilated because it's a sympathetic activity of the brain...the other signs are producing a thick vicous saliva, increase in BP and increase in pulse rate...
