Eating foods high in saturated fat and cholesterol gradually furs up the coronary arteries, eventually leading to narrowing or even blockages. It's the inability of oxygenated blood to get to the myocardium (heart muscle) that causes angina and also heart attacks. Also, having a diet high in sugar and fat leads to obesity which is in itself a risk factor for heart disease. The heart has to work so much harder to cope with the extra weight around it!

Diet is one of the key factors in CVD. The level of saturated fats consumed in the diets leads to a condition called atherosclerosis, where the inside of the arteries, known as the lumen, become narrowed due to the build up of plaque effectively.
By maintaining a diet low in saturated fats, and cholesterol, (so not just food, but alcohol also) it helps to prevent CVD. Equally important is regular exercise.

High-fat diet is the main cause of atherosclerosis which in turn affects our cardio-vascular system. High level of LDL, serum triglycerides and serum cholesterol are bad for our health. HDL is a good cholesterol. Other causes of cardio-vascular disease are smoking, diabetes, obesity, hyperlipidemia, hypertension and family history of cardiovascular diseases.
Please see the webpages for more details on Atherosclerosis.

Our diet is the # 1 factor in preventing CVD. If we eat healthy: fruits and vegatables high in color ( brocolli, canteloupe, tomatoes, strawberries), stay away from red meat, healthy oils, stay away from fried foods. All of these contribute to different kinds of CVD as well as cancer. So if we have a healthy diet, then we dont have to worry about CVD. For you info. CVD kills 1 in 3 Americans and statistically 1 in every 2 persons will suffer from it within their lifetime.

fatty food which have amino acids, carbohydrates and high sugar content can affect your heart by clogging up the arteries which in turn slow down the heartbeat making it difficult to push the blood around our bodies..it can also harden our arteries...causing heart desease, angina, etc... hope this helps x
