This is easy. Go to the store and buy one box of jello instant chocolate pudding, and one box of Jello instant Dark chocolate pudding mix, milk, and a ready made graham cracker pie shell, a tub of whipped topping, and a chocolate bar.
In a small bowl, make the dark chocolate pudding according to the directions on the side of the box for pie filling, uses less milk and is thicker when it sets up. Beat with electric hand mixer or use a wooden spoon, and stir or beat until it starts to set up and thicken, pour into pie shell. Rinse bowl and make the milk chocolate instant pudding, again using the pie filling recipe which requires less milk. Pour that on top of the other filling. Place in refrig for one hour uncovered. Remove from frig, and top with whipped topping. Using a potato peeler, peel or scrape off shavings off the chocolate bar onto the whipped topping. Eat the rest of the chocolate bar...you will feel better, chocolate does that. Put pie back into the fridge until ready to serve. Enjoy!
For transport, cover pie without the whipped topping lightly with plastic wrap, Do not put whipped topping or chocolate shavings on until you arrive at Grandma's.
You can share the left over chocolate bar with Gramma, Gramma's dig that. Happy holidays!

Well pies are quite traditional thanksgiving deserts and (almost) everyone loves chocolate, so try this recipe -
http://southernfood.about.com/od/chocolatepies/r/blbb700.htm
Everyone in my family LOVES it and are always asking for me to make it again - v. unhealthy tho - but isn't that what the holidays are for! Serve cold with whipped cream.

NB - You have to cook in saucepan on hob for quite a while for it to thicken properly. Use a bought pre-baked pie crust, just fill with chocolate mixture and put in fridge. Make sure you have the recipe ready for all those people who are GOING TO ask you for it!

HALVE the quantities for only 1 pie.

(P.S You could also try Pumpkin Ice Cream pie, cook on hob, mix with icecream, freeze in crust - yummy alternative to regular pumpkin pie! http://southernfood.about.com/od/pumpkinpies/r/bl31207b.htm )

If you don't have confidence in your cooking I would invest in a good dessert made by an expert. Prowl your local bread store, bakery or a market that does special order baking. Although I can bake I was too busy to take time out to so I ordered a Black Forrest cake from Publix and it was to die for.

You could try a trifle - its torn up pieces of angel food or pound cake, pudding, fruit (fresh, frozen or canned but drained), whip cream (or cool whip), layered in a large bowl.
