~~ Village Idiot ,,,, Luck had nothing to do with it. If you check your History about the Power Struggle between The Church/Pope and The Monarchy/Emporer/Ruling Head of ANY given region of The World, in the Northern Hemisphere, and correlate these events to The History of Mythology, only then will you begin to get some Perspective of the Who, What When Where Why of "Religion",,, and how it,,, yes, Evolved,,, into it's current state, Try reading anything by author Joseph Campbell.

Not really got lucky, but that people invested a lot of money into to keep them going. Most of the really old ancient religions, such as the Norse, Greek, and Egyptian pantheons, along with others such as Wicca, Druidry, and a few others, never required monetary sacrifice to keep the faith going, they were supported on exactly that, faith and belief. And since we live in a society were the people with the deepest pockets win, well... you know where I'm going with this.

Yeah I'd say. It seems like it's the religion of people whose societies have done well.

For example, the Native American relgion isn't practiced much as well as Incan religions. Why? Because the followers didn't survive enough to spread the word.

Yep.

Very charismatic people got behind Christianity, mixed in the appropriate pagan elements to get people to convert, and then got very powerful people on their side.

Only luck of the draw let Christianity, Judaism and Islam win out over the Greek pantheon.

They are all cults. The reason that they have lasted is because they sell the idea that people get a second chance at life and it's sells bigger than lottery tickets.
