America gives Cubans freedom from Castro's persecution. America gives them citizenship and liberty and a home. Why is it that every time a boat full of Cuban refugees comes to America, Cuban Americans rush out waving CUBAN flags instead of AMERICAN flags?

Maybe because they don't have an american flag to wave at the moment? I'm pretty sure that Cuban stores don't have a surplus stock of American flags just out for everyone.

Why do Mexicans come to America and wave the Mexican flag??? Hey, I am old school and I know this is not politically correct, but I have Indian heritage ( American Indian) in my blood line, but I am an American first, and an Indian second. I have friends who feel the same way. One is an American with African ancestors. another is an American with German and Italian ancestors.

None of this, " Afro-American, Mexican American, German American, Indian American."

We live in a country where we are free, and are Americans first and foremost.

I don't see how it matters. If I was Cuban, I would wave a Cuban flag. Why? Because I'm proud of my heritage... duh. Doesn't mean I hate America or anything like its just that they are Cuban so why not?!? Its pride.

Becuase it's called nationalism. They have pride for their country. Just because they may have someone in power they do not approve of doesn't mean they don't love their country. Nationalism is a very strong bond. I mean I'm American and regardless of where I move or who's in power I will always be American. And that will always instill a sense of pride in me.

Perhaps because they love their country of origin. The fact that people feel loyal to their homeland should not be taken as an affront to those of us who reside in their land of choice.

BECAUSE THEY ARE CUBANS, IS THAT ENOUGH FOR YOU? AND "AMERICA" GIVES A **** A CUBANS, THE GOVERNMENT MAY CARE, BUT THE AVERAGE "AMERICAN" LIKE YOU DON'T GIVE A **** TO CUBANS. THAT'S THE TRUTH.

AND WHY DO YOU FEEL SO OFFENDED WITH PEOPLE OF OTHER COUNTRIES? ARE YOU SO INSECURE THAT WAY? DO YOU HAVE TO TELL YOURSELF EVERYNIGHT "THIS IS A GOOD COUNTRY AND PEOPLE LIKE IT"?

why do Americans come to Oz and "wear" the American flag on their shirts, their shorts, have it flying from their car etc etc???!!!

it either stems from pride in your 'home' country, or an obnoxious attempt to p*ss people off.

Just because they are fleeing persecution, does not mean they cannot be proud of where they come from or be patriotic to there home land.
